Speaking Up Delivers Justice
Chicago’s Columbia College Professor, Iymen Chehad, had his class reiinstated. Remember, part of his class was cancelled because he showed the Oscar nominated film, 5 Broken Cameras, which documents life under Israeli Occupation. One student in class complained of ‘bias’ and academic freedom was threatened on American soil.
The voices of citizens with conscious came forth in droves through petitions, blogs and social media campaigns. We must demand our freedom of speech in America. Without it, self-interest will steam roll you into submission. Apathy is akin to enslavement to the establishments that wish to control THE narrative, YOUR narrative.
Chicago’s Columbia College will be on the Watch Dog list from here on out- as will every educational institution, by those that demand Academic Freedom. And Columbia College will now go back into my bittersweet memory bank as the institution of journalistic integrity I once dreamed of attending.
