Support Muslim Film Makers. Hollywood Here We Come.

ISF National Film Grant – $20,000 Grant For Muslim Filmmakers

As Muslims, it feels lame to be chasing down faux film makers who are pretending to make films showing they care about humanity- when the insidiuous truth and intention is to spread bigotry and hate.  (But we will continue to call them out. Every.Single.Time.)  That said- Hollywood has been portraying Muslims in a negative light for far too long.  Creating a narrative in our society that instills fear of Muslims is a very tactical way to get inside the minds of people- so that their opinions favor other self-serving, political and world causes.

Enough complaining.  Time to change that.  How?  By owning our own narratives.  That is precisely why I advocate for the #MyJihad campaign – to speak my own truth and to encourage others to do the same.  That is precisely why I advocate for any project that supports Muslim students in humanities- film, radio, journalism, television.  Hollywood- we’re here.  And we will be telling our own stories, thankyouverymuch.  And it starts with support for projects like the Islamic Scholarship Fund National Film Grant.
