A must watch video of Abby Martin’s  interview with Dr. Deepa Kumar, professor of media studies at Rutgers University and author of Islamophobia and the Politics of Empire.  Dr. Kumar discusses empire and agenda of the 1% that is at the root of Islamophobia.  She talks about how historically, empires are created through conflict and by “othering” groups of people. Without getting to the heart of imperialism and capitalism, islamophobia will continue to exist.
