Happy Ramadan 2016

Ramadan Kareem! May this blessed month provide you with spiritual revival and depth, success in your spiritual journey and the ability to receive Allah’s bountiful blessings.

I already messed up and woke up an hour earlier than I needed to. Eating must stop at the beginning of dawn – which is prior to fajr. Don’t confuse that with some websites that post astronomical dawn. Maybe that is dawn for Mars- I don’t know. But it’s a blessing as I had my suhoor early and I’m listening to Sheikh Omar Suleiman and Nouman Ali Khan speak inspiring words to start the month.

I plan – insha’Allah – to reduce social media this month except for spiritual reminders; to read Qur’an translation and my book about Aisha; to strive in fasting and prayer; to fight my nafs and be an example to my kids; to humble myself and improve my communication with people; to become more insular as a whole- and precise and selective in my messaging to the outside world.20160606_030135

My suhoor this morning is simple: oatmeal, half an apple and teaspoon of peanut butter.  Water and caffeine of course.

Invite a revert to iftar this Ramadan. Please! They need us. And we need them.

Ramadan Mubarak!

Love, Yasmina
